Youth Activities

Phil & Lynne are doing great work with our youth......

Hi, I'm Phil. I'm the youth worker for St Andrew's and St John's. I'm from Belfast and am married to Lynne who is the Mentor Project Leader at CYM Ipswich. We also have a daughter called Hannah who often comes with us when we're doing youth stuff. She provides endless challenge and entertainment. I love my family! I'm a big football fan and believe the game is so much more than running around after a ball.  Lynne and I both support Man Utd and even had a football themed wedding! I'm also a big movie fan and have a rather large collection  DVDs. I love spending time getting to know people and seeing young people fulfill their potential. I believe God is not just for Sundays and not just kept in a Church building. When a young person grows closer to God in community with others, they never fail to grow personally and socially too. I love it!!!

From the Bible: 1 Tim 4:12 (MSG)

..."And don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young. Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanour, by love, by faith, by integrity."

Loads going on..

Kinetic is a Sunday Morning Youth Group for young people year 7-10 during the morning service from 10:30-12. Getting to grips with God and the bible better in a conversational and active way. It is important to learn as you serve and put your faith into practice. We also take some children's work as a group on the first Sunday of each month, meeting for Bacon sandwiches and a practise. We meet at each Church on alternate weeks - St Johns (1st & 3rd week) St Andrews (2nd & 4th week).

It’s about God – we will look at the Bible and grow in our faith together

It’s about you – we will all be taking part (which means you can be in control of different parts), and supporting each other

Where? – at the Taste Café, Woodbridge Road

When? – Wednesdays 3.30-4.30, including the holidays

Lead by Phil Bailie & Rachel Bricknell

Thursday evening youth group at St Andrew's from 7:30 - 9:00. youth club style with a little shape. Big games, Chill out time, tuck and some light bite bible stuff.

Friday night youth club, fornightly @  Cauldwell Hall Road Baptist from 7.30-- 9.00 for school years 6 - 13 . This is fun, games and activity for all with a short talk or discussion at some point too.

Fuel is a cafe style gathering for young people in year 10 and above during the evening service on a Sunday night from 8:00-9.15 pm @ St Andrew's Church. Fuel Discuss, Debate and  Grapple with themes and questions at a deeper level. With great tea, coffee and Hot Chocolate. Fuel has changed venue specifically to allow young people to get involved in/come to the Sunday evening services. Please encourage this as we believe it is very important for both their integration with the Church and formation as Christians.

Collective is run with support from Christian Youth Ministry and on site at Copleston High School from 2:15 - 3:00pm in the coffee bar. We give young people a chance to Ask Questions, Meet Christians and Eat Cake. Cakes are provided by people from St Andrew's Church.

We now have a mentoring programme up and running for any of our young people who are interested. This is a 1 year relationship, meeting with a trained Mentor once every 2-3 weeks to talk about life, faith, good and bad times and to look together at how God speaks into our lives in any of these times.

Contact Phil for more details.

Soul Survivor

For the last 2 years St A&J Youth and All Saints Kesgrave have taken a group of young people to Soul Survivor Week A...

...Soul Survivor is a five day event where thousands of us gather together to journey with God.

The main focus of the events are morning and evening meetings where we spend time worshipping God with music, learning more about Him through His word (the Bible) and waiting on the Holy Spirit to change us and equip us to live lives for Him.

As well as main meetings and seminars we have a bunch of venues from chilled out cafes through to awesome gigs... it's pretty fun!

Here's what one of our young people had to say about their experience...

I just wanted to say what soul survivor meant to me last year. I loved it, it was amazing. I didn't know that it could be that inspirational, it showed me that you don't have to be a Christian to go, which to me is so cool. It meant I was allowed to become closer to God even though I wasn't a Christian and I believe in evolution. Everyone there is so welcoming which is the best thing ever to me, because it shows that they care for everyone, if they're a Christian or not. I enjoyed it so much and I learned a lot and I learned a lot. Thanks     (Lucy M)
