here’s a pic of me with Hannah Deaves and Nick who is the vicar from St Matthews looking freezing on a Sunday morning in Feb.
By the way, if you have anything to sell, we are the experts...
As Jesus said – let’s go to the ends of the earth – even the car boot sale!!!
Ever since I’ve been commissioned as local evangelist – I have said that I wanted to go to where the people are, because many people are a long way from coming to church.
I have been working with a group of people on an initiative called soul space trying to have a witness to people who would say they are searching for spirituality – The opportunity came up for us to support a group of churches in the town close to the Portman road boot sale for the church to have a presence there on a Sunday morning. We have helped set up a pilot scheme of 6 Sundays – called sanctuary with the mission statement ‘local churches here for you’. We are selling things raising money for our partnership diocese in Kargara, giving out free Christian literature in a range of languages, offering to pray for people and generally getting to know those who are there both as stall holders and people attending
Already we have had some good conversations with people and have people we are praying for.
So please pray for this project and also for the possibility of being able to do something similar at foxhall stadium with churches in this area
I love winnie the pooh and I saw this on facebook this week - ‘you can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you – you have to go to them sometimes’. I think this sums up what I believe the church so do.
